Surf Lessons coming soon to Coastline Kitesurfing!

surf lessons in Cape Town

Coastline Kitesurfing, will soon introduce authentic surf lessons in Cape Town to their already adventurous guests!

In summer, Cape Town and in particular Bloubergstrand, have some of the most amazingly consistent trade winds in South Africa. However there are days even in Cape Town without wind. Currently on no wind days, most of our guests travel to Stellenbosch to enjoy South Africa’s famous wine farms, or they hike up Table Mountain!

In our opinion, there is nothing more refreshing, than surfing on a no-wind hot summers day in Cape Town. Which is why we have decided to introduce Surf School Cape Town to all of our guests coming summer 2018!

We will offer packages such as:

  • Group & Private lessons for beginners.
  • 3 or 5 Day group packages with included accommodation + airport shuttle.
  • Family group packages.
  • Sunset surf packages.

The list goes on.

We feel this will be the best alternative for our guests, so that they can still enjoy the ocean even on no wind days.

Not only is surfing one of the most refreshing activities to do in Cape Town, but it is also a super time to practise your balance when it comes to days where kitesurfing is not possible. Learning to stand up on a surfboard during your surf lessons will be hugely beneficial for your core/the balancing of your center of gravity.

Here is a quick piece from Wikipedia on Surfers and Surf culture.

“When the waves were flat, surfers persevered with sidewalk surfing, which is now called skateboarding. Sidewalk surfing has a similar feel to surfing and requires only a paved road or sidewalk. To create the feel of the wave, surfers even sneak into empty backyard swimming pools to ride in, known as pool skating. Eventually, surfing made its way to the slopes with the invention of the Snurfer, later credited as the first snowboard. Many other board sports have been invented over the years, but all can trace their heritage back to surfing. Many surfers claim to have a spiritual connection with the ocean, describing surfing, the surfing experience, both in and out of the water, as a type of spiritual experience or a religion.” – Wikipedia.
